Team Smith/null
went to Christiansburg this past weekend
about a (5) hour drive
into the mountains and came home a BIG
Winner!!! Perry Gibson had his first
Kickboxing show and really did it up
nice with a new ring and nice venue.
Our Team showed their hard training paid
off quickly by posting TWO wins in the
first two fights of the event. The hard
training showed this time around where
as in S.C. about (6) months ago it did
not. Josh Kessler
kicked off the day with an impressive
win to advance him into the finals which
were held later Saturday night.
Jacob Underdown was the second
fight and he won his match showing off
his aggressive forward offence and
taking the Championship Belt. The first
Belt of the Venue went to Jacob
and he deserved it after having fought
top fighters in his first and second fi
ghts last year. He was all smiles and
we are sure he has stapled his name on
the Team with this win. The second belt
went to Jessica Goldyn
when nobody showed up(all of them scared
to fight her) she had to fight a boy her
weight and age in her fight and stopped
the boy 30 seconds of the first round
with the boy going to his knees crying.
The third Belt went to Shalynn
Atkins who also had nobody show
up and we begged somebody to get in the
ring to fight her and only one of our
own who came to watch was up to the
task. Josh Virgili
stepped into the ring to give her a
couple of rounds to showcase her
talents. Reid Kessler
was our next Belt Winner with his
nonstop offensive pressure put on
another kid and backed the kid up
steadily until it was a unanimous
decision after three rounds for Reid
Kessler winning Team Smith's 4th belt in
a Nighttime fight. Our 5th belt went
to A.J.Atkins another
one of our fighters that nobody showed
up to fight, so he was a Walkover
Champion. In another high intensity
fight on the Nighttime show was
Josh Kessler in his 2nd fight
of the day. After showcasing what he
has potential of doing to a fighter in
his first fight. Josh
in his second had his nerves working
against him due to the lights and crowd
of the nighttime show. He lost in the
final to a good fighter with a Majority
decision going the other way. Jake Virgili
went toe to toe with a current Champion
and came out with another majority
decision against him in a daytime
fight. Kent Vensland
our only adult fighter lost to the
eventual Champion with 2 hard blows to
Kent's head. All of our Team did well
and both Mr. Jim and myself said that
the hard training paid off. One
of the Top Teams in th e Country was
there, Team Finn out of Kentucky, came
up to Mr. Jim and said we have a Great
Team. Nationally, Team Smith is
one of the Top Teams in the Country due
to our Team aspect. We train as a Team
and we compete as a Team and our results
reflect what our Team does to prepare
for these events. We cannot rest long,
this weekend in Ohio Team Smith goes
again against the Top Teams in the
Country, wish us well. Results from
