The
Southeast Classic is complete and Team
Smith brought home (4) Champions. Team
Smith took (10) Fighters to the South
Carolina event and many of those (10)
were beginners. We thought there would
be more beginners at this event, most of
the other schools from
N.C.,S.C.,Georgia, Alabama, and Va.
brought there better fighters. If there
is one thing we brought home other than
Champions it was experience. That is the
most important thing, to get ring
experience in a Hostile environment. I
just wish more local schools would step
up to the ring and bring fighters to
these events. I here all the time about
local schools stating that they have a
Kickboxing program. They put it on there
windows and advertise that they do
Kickboxing, well where are they at???
They do not travel and put there schools
up against other Teams from around the
Country like we do. They may do local in
school competitions, but how can they
call there selves a Kickboxing Team or
school if they don't travel and compete
with the Top schools around the country.
When I here some of the other schools in
the area claiming they do Kickboxing, I
ask two simple questions, "What
sanctioning body have your Teams fought
in and What top teams or Fighters from
around the country have you competed
against"???
If you plan on putting your son or
daughter or yourself into Kickboxing(
True Kickboxing), make sure you check
out the schools background ROOTS or
HISTORY of there Kickboxing experience.
You need to go no further than My
instructor "The Legend Joe Lewis" the
FATHER of Kickboxing in this Country to
check out our History of our program. Or
go to any Sanctioning rankings of
fighters and see where they are from:
www.wkkousa.com
www.ikfkickboxing.com
www.usopenkickboxing.com
These are three of the most recognized
sanctioning bodies in the U.S. of
America for Kickboxing. Just look at the
rankings for Juniors and Adults and see
where they come from. Each ranking
system should say what school or gym or
State they are from. Do your research
before enrolling your family in a
Kickboxing program.
